All right, seriously, I don't know what is going on with the formatting here. I wrote it in Word and copied and pasted. Sorry!!
This is my first BlogHer conference, and I’m a bit
nervous. I’m liveblogging, which means
that I have actual responsibilities, which makes me even more nervous. I hope that if I post this (and you comment!) you all will feel
like old friends at the conference, and I can let go of some of these jitters.
I’ve been blogging at http://prettybabies.blogspot.com for
a little over two years. I’ve always
loved to write, ever since I was a kid.
I even won a local poetry contest when I was 11 or 12. When I was pregnant with my oldest daughter,
I sent the family what became known as “Peanut E-mails” – e-mails written to
them from “the baby.” They were a big
hit with the family, and some have suggested that I publish them, but I think
they’re too personal. When my
second daughter was born, I decided to stop cluttering up my family’s
inboxes, and start a blog. Now that I’m
a blogger, there isn’t much that I consider too personal to post! I try not to write anything that I wouldn't want to see on the front page of our local paper, but sometimes I fail. Since I started blogging, I’ve been trying to find a
place for myself in the mommyblogging community. I hope that by attending BlogHer, I’ll make
more connections with the extraordinary women who make the community of
mommybloggers so special.
I’m extremely opinionated, but becoming a mother has
softened some of my more militant beliefs.
I’ve come to learn that there are many paths to successful parenting,
and that what works for one family won’t necessarily work for another. Still, if I disagree with you, I’m not afraid
to say so. 99% of the time, it's because I genuinely care about you, not just because I'm trying to be "right." My opinionatedness can be one of my best
and worst qualities.
Humor is a quality that I really appreciate in people. My extended family is hilarious. One of the qualities that made me love my
husband is his sense of humor. I try to
be funny, myself, but sometimes people don’t “get” me. I’m working on it.
I love food. If I couldn't be a mommyblogger I’d probably be a food blogger. Ask me for restaurant suggestions in Chicago - I will keep you stuffed all weekend.
In real life, I'm exactly the same as the person I portray on my blog. People who know me say that they can hear my voice when they read my posts. What you see is what you get with me. I kind of let it all hang out.
I have a husband, two daughters, a dog and a cat. We own our own business, and I work for my
husband as much as I can. We live in
Indiana, so I’m excited to be driving to BlogHer with the Chevy Carpool. I also won the Johnson & Johnson
Sweepstakes, and I’m thrilled to be able to cover the room and the gas for my
roommates – Amy Turn Sharp, Momofali, and Piper of Love.
I can’t wait to meet all of you! Thanks for taking a moment out of your day to
get to know me! Please click over to Pretty Babies for extensive BlogHer Coverage! See you soon!!
