You will never guess what I did this week. I started working with a personal trainer. No. I'm not kidding. I have the sore muscles to prove it.
Do you want to know the really sad part? She didn't even really work me out very hard. It was that initial visit where she was just checking to see what kind of shape I was in. Apparently the answer to that question is "bad shape".
It isn't as glum as it sounds. I am working out with a partner and to keep us in check we even started a blog about it.
Lori at Lori's World had her first session with a trainer this week. I think he scared her. JP at Over and Over hired a personal trainer this week too. She wants to lose her muffin top by September. I would be happy to get rid of just one of my many chins before the BlogHer Conference in July.
Jana from These are the Days insists that she lived through her first week with a personal trainer.
I am indeed still alive & survived my first week of personal
training although I'm in a *bit* of, um, discomfort shall we say. The
day after my second session I could barely walk up & down the
stairs and just felt really gross all day, probably because my body was
in utter shock but I'm thinking it'll be downhill from there hopefully!
He pushed me hard, REALLY hard, but I never backed down, never stopped
and most importantly, did NOT throw up unlike some of his other clients.
Of course I found this out after I'd hired him! No weight loss yet but
I didn't really expect to while I'm adding on muscle here initially.
Two more sessions next week and then I'll go to 3 per week. Heaven help
me, it's going to be a loonngggg road.
You've got to love fact that not throwing up is an accomplishment. I'm getting nervous about my first real session.
I need to lose about 30 pounds. Sometimes that seems insurmountable. Then I read a blog like 24 Steps to Go. Mara's goal is to lose 192 pounds.
I know it will be a great struggle and hard work but I am determined to
change my life and make it a great one. I joined a gym a couple of
weeks ago and also hired a personal trainer, Donna (she is great). I
find that having someone help me is a good way for me to stay focused.
I highly recommend it to anyone thinking of doing it. But you need to
decide what will work for you don't give up you can accomplish your
goal.
You should check out Mara's Blog it is very inspirational.
Speaking of inspirational, I know I talk about her all of the time but I had to share this quote with you guys.
...the next thing I remember is yet another nurse saying, "Mrs. Masses, Mrs. Masses, it's time to wake up."
"Huh?" I am so brilliant.
"It's time to wake up, " she repeated patiently.
"I'm supposed to have surgery." I'm a killer with words.
"You already did. Here, we need you to drink this Coke."
"I can't drink Coke. I don't anymore - I lost 80 pounds and now I can't drink it."
"Mrs. Masses, you can and you will."
Carmen has changed her lifestyle so completely that when she is coming out of anesthesia she still has willpower. I want to be like Carmen. Maybe if I keep on working out I can look like her. Or at least we can share clothes.
