Recently my mom had her 89th birthday.  One of the greatest gifts she got was a visit from Sitella, her best friend.  Sitella drove over to be with us for the birthday celebration.  She's almost 80 and she and Mom have been friends for almost 50 years.

 These two have had so much fun together over the years.  Both of them speak Spanish which is what they used when they didn't want us kids (or their husbands) to know what they were saying. 

Mom and Sitella have supported one another through just about every crisis you can imagine.  And even though Mom doesn't remember a lot of things these days, she never forgets her best friend and "running buddy". 

So it was great to see them together again today and capture their smiles in this photo.  It reminded me that although the years may fly by, somethings are constant. 

Like girlfriends.
