Giving Credit Where Credit Is Due: Thank You BlogHer

It’s OK to admit you believe in yourself.
Who am I? When I think about this, I see myself as a strong independent woman. Does this mean I have everything I need in life? No. I am content each and every day with what I have.
I wake up early in the morning by choice and give myself time to reflect on who it is I want to be, who it is I want my daughter to remember me for. It all boils down to one word: strong.
Life has thrown many things my way and really, I wouldn't have it any other way. Some of these things are and were unavoidable and life changing, while others were self inflicted lessons and equally as life changing. I believe that everybody’s lessons in life have come from how they respond to adversity. I have had heartache; I have made mistakes, many big, and others small. I learn, I remember, I try to be better, do better, everyday. I try, I try, I try.
I have a fear of not getting the most out of life or getting to do all the things I believe and know I can do. I believe in myself. I have so much to give. My involvement with raising money for Special Olympics and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, helping other women follow their dreams is unbelievably rewarding.
Many believe you have to have money in order to follow your dreams. This is simply untrue. Believe, keep focused and go for it. My ambition and drive will always find a way. Mark my word.
Put yourself out there, be vulnerable, and don’t miss out on life. There are times I am self absorbed, needy and crabby. It's because I know what I want and who I want to be. I'm just trying to figure out how to get there, what road to take and how fast to take it.
Five years ago I became a business partner along with Andrea Wilde to a Hollywood gossip blog Bitten and Bound. This changed my life. For better or worse, I will give this opportunity every ounce of my being. The rise, the fall and the rise again.
Other than my wedding day and the birth of our daughter, one thing that stands out as a pivotal changing point in my life was when my business partner and I joined the BlogHer Network. Amazing, empowering, life changing, opportunity, knowledge, friendship, are a few words that come to mind when I think of the BlogHer Network and what these powerful women have done for me and my life.
Aside from being a part of the network, I have attended 3 BlogHer conferences. This is where the life changing part comes in. To be surrounded by several thousand other bloggers and like minded women is to say the least empowering. Each year I leave with a whole new outlook on life and business, these opportunities have served me well.
BlogHer can be many different things for women and now men. A sounding board, a learning tool, community, advertising and publishing. Without taking away from Bitten and Bound’s hard work and dedication we owe much of our opportunities and success to BlogHer.
I will forever be grateful to three women who followed their dreams, BlogHer founders: Lisa Stone, Elisa Camahort Page and Jory Des Jardins. These ladies made it possible for a girl from a small town in Wisconsin to have a blog that turned into a successful business.
Opportunity, don’t miss it. Follow your dreams. Be who you are meant to be. Challenge yourself.
It’s OK to admit you believe in yourself. This is life. Here's to the future, cheers.
