Gluten Free Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie
Typically, I'm more of a juice and crushed ice type of smoothie person. At times though, a fatty, sugary milk shake is what I need. And since I can't always break away to get a shake (packing up the kid for a quick drive through really just isn't a good use of my time), I decided to make something at home to curb my craving. Plus, I received a bag of Hershey's Kisses in my #JAdoreVoxBox from Influenster, and thought I could do something a little special with them.
Here's a quick and easy recipe for you to try. Gather these ingredients. THEN, read my disclaimer at the end of the post to adjust your recipe accordingly:
- 1/3 Cup Unsweetened Almond Milk (I used Silk, but we often have Almond Breeze)
- 1/2 banana
- 1TBS Jif Natural Peanut Butter, creamy
- 6 Hershey's Kisses
All of the ingredients above have been verified GF at the time - but, I recommend to always do your due diligence.
Pour milk into blender.
Break up your banana in small chunks and toss in blender.
Add 1 tablespoon peanut butter
Melt the KISSES in the microwave about 1.5 min. They may not actually melt into a puddle, but you should be able to squish them if they're warm enough - that means you can blend them easily. Plop them in the blender.
Blend to the consistency you desire. Mine still had some decent sized chunks of banana due to rushing the final product for two year old (which is mentioned again here momentarily).
This makes enough for 1 person (I only have a single person blender), though I didn't measure the final product since I had a 2 year old whining at me for snack at the time... rushed the drink to her quickly.
I realized once the kiddo had a couple sips and handed it back, that it was far too sweet for our liking. So, I wouldn't suggest more than 3 KISSES for the serving above. I also think a whole banana and a tablespoon and a half of peanut butter would have been tastier and probably would have made the smoothie more creamy.
If you're looking for more creaminess, I'd recommend substituting the 1/3 cup milk for equal parts milk and ice cream, or milk and yogurt.
So, a little bit healthy, a little bit bad. Hope you enjoy!
