Although Popeye ate spinach to be healthy and strong, broccoli may be the best choice for the rest of us. Broccoli is amazing in that it has so many health benefits, such as helping to prevent heart disease, cancer, AND diabetes. A recent study from the U.K. found that broccoli contains a compound called glucoraphanin, which is found in cruciferous veggies like broccoli, cabbage, and brussel sprouts. This compound "retunes" our bodies cells so they are healthier to defend against disease. Other research indicates broccoli may also help our bodies to delay arthritis.
