Tell us your beautiful name, please! Donna "Roxanne" Rounsville
Okay! First thing’s first! Let’s give a shoutout to your family members! Who makes up the troop? Bio and Bonus!
In my home full time is my husband Curt and myself..and don't forget our babies Rosella Rounsville (terrier) and Sophie LaLa Rounsville (chihuahua)
Every Wednesday and every 1st, 3rd and 5th weekend we get Reed (14 boy is he 14!) and Leah (12 my girl!)
Where do you hail from?
Sooooeeeee!!!! I am a Razorback from Arkansas ya'll!
What are some of your hobbies? What do you enjoy doing the most?
Crafts and cooking...just really sitting down with a bunch of recipes and dreaming something up...or just making a huge mess with Leah and her friends cranking out a art project!
What is one thing others would say about you?
I am plum loco!...i love being silly and making people laugh!
Tell us one thing about you that would surprise us!
I am adopted..?...heck I don't know!
Ok, now we must know: How did you meet your soul mate? Was it love at first sight? When did you know it was meant to be?
We met on a boat in Oceanside Harbor...we have been together ever since....took us about 6 months to get married! WE knew right away...we spoke endlessly on the phone everyday...
What do you remember most about the day you met your stepchild(children)? Something positive:
Reed spoke non stop and Leah was sooo curious!...I let them literally throw water balls at me at the beach while their dad surfed...dropped my ego and just let them have at it with me...we had so much fun running up and down that beach...i feel they came not wanting to like me...could tell...he had picked them up from their moms....i was just open and the stepped right in!~and the real big thing i just thought they were the prettiest children!
On your stepmom journey, what has been the biggest blessing?
God...cannot say that enough...when i finally turned over the steering wheel and stopped trying to control everything and tried to be an example things sure did get easier!
On your stepmom journey, what has been your biggest challenge? We’re certain you’re not alone in this; therefore, can you offer any advice on how you’ve gotten through this challenge or live with it?
Dropping my ego and not taking everything the children said as from BM's mouth...take it for face value and try to find out how they really feel...but once i didn't try to be THE ONE and realized i am the stepmom...i am a blessing to them...who gets a second opinion on stuff...instead of forcing my values i now offer them as just my thoughts....they do not have to see things it is easier to feel that way.
What is your favorite Bible verse? One that you wake up to and one you go to bed to at night?
The Armor of God
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. 19 Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.
Any final thoughts?
Without support I don't think I could have moved forward...reaching out and really listening...not just to cry...but to DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
