Good Health-athon 09 - Ready to join?
by Catherine Morgan

Beginning the first week of January, BlogHer will be making a commitment to help you find success with healthy living in 2009.

This twelve week Good Health-athon will have several Contributing Editors participating, from singles to couples to families to mid-lifers. They will cover a different aspect of healthy living each week. So, whether you've made a New Year's resolution of weight loss (like about 45% of people do each year), or you just want to make a commitment to good health - I hope you'll join us in our 2009 Good Health-athon.

We'll have all sorts of helpful information, ideas, tips and links designed to help you find the healthy living success you're looking for. And there are many ways that you can participate. Try one or all of them...

1. Read The Good Health-athon posts and use the information to assist you in your goals for healthy living.

2. Comment regularly on the Good Health-athon posts, and let us know how they've been helpful to you. Leave additional ideas or tips that you find helpful.

3. You can also share your struggles and successes with the group in comments. Doing this can help you maintain your personal commitment, while also having an impact on others going through similar experiences.

4. Write weekly on your personal blog as you follow along with the Good Health-athon. Give your readers an opportunity to be part of this exercise in better health, by writing about it and sharing your experiences, struggles and successes. (And add your post url to Mr Linky below.)

5. Do you have your own advice on how to live healthier in the New Year? We would love to hear it. Write a post on your own blog (or on BlogHer), and leave a link to it in the comments of this post. There's a good chance that one of the BlogHer Good Health-athon contributors will link to it.

6. Submit photos of your efforts to get healthy to the BlogHer Flickr Group and we'll feature them in our masthead. (Photos must be vertical and not horizontal!)

In addition to covering topics such as; setting goals, exercise & fitness, lifestyle, nutrition, and more...We will also be having periodic progress checks where we can all share how far we've come, what's worked, and what hasn't. This will also be a great time for all of us to support and encourage each other.

So...Are you ready for a healthier 2009? If so, join us for our BlogHer Good Health-athon, and together we'll get on the path to healthy living.

Good Health, yay!

I'm kind of an "anti diet" kind of person but I'm all for "good health". I think I might even be able to write a post of my own for Mr Linky over the weekend. Maybe.

Trying again...

Time to turn over a new leaf yet again... looking forward to healthier living in 2009.

I've started!

On the lower left sidebar of my blog, I've created a "Getting Healthier in 2009" widget.  I have weekly exercise goals and I've created a public workout log to keep myself accountable.  We'll see how it goes!

This works right along

This works right along with my plans I have for this year.

Sign Me Up!

I don't have the regular old issues many women have: I don't need to lose weight or any of that stuff. But that doesn't mean I'm healthy. For the past four months I have struggled with colds, sinus infections and for the big climax a nasty case of bronchitis. All this and I'm a health nut! Goes to show you what preschool germs, stress and a possible mold issue in our home can do to your health. I am going to kick all these things in the butt in 2009 and return to my fabulous self!!!

Accountability

My biggest hurdle to working out and eating better is motivation.  I figured, what better motivation than a big dose of accountability.  I'm posting my weight and measurements every Saturday on my blog for the rest of the year.  Join me?

I declared I am eating flowers

In 2008 I declared I was going to eat flowers.
In september we moved to a rural property, put a garden in and voila, things started to grow and I was literally eating flowers.

In this environment I am very encouraged to eat healthy and already lost wait.

I love keeping my body supple by doing pilates every morning.

But taking supplements that will help my body to fight some aches and pains is a challenge, I don't like finding out what will help my body and taking those things regularly.

My challenge is my mindset about me, my legitimacy to look after me when it takes a litttle bit more effort.

I am working hard on becoming clear about my rights and then the rest will come as I noticed when making progress with my mindset by doing my mindgym.

I continue with Pilates, healthy eating AND my mindgym as I am committed to making myself and other women the life force giving, powerful, healthy and marvelous looking beings we really are.

I join in, there is power in belonging.

It's the never ending health-athon

I must say that having a food/diet/fitness blog give me more incentive to staying healthy year round. But after all the cheese I ate over the holidays, I could really use a kick in the (slightly tighter) pants.

I'm putting it out there--losing weight

I have decided this will be the year for me to do something about being a healthier person. Joining this group will hopefully help me be more accountable. I'm going to be successful in losing weight this year. I'm not going to be all talk and no action. NOW is the time....

New Baby

My baby is QUICKLY becoming "not new," as is the shape I was left with when I gave birth.  I love my son SO MUCH, don't get me wrong, so it's worth it, but I know I can get healthier again and like the way I look again one day.  Why not start now?  The longer I wait the harder it'll get, and as I repsond well to group pressure...er...committment...I'm hoping this will help me stay motivated and learn new and exiting ways to work exercise and a better diet into my life.

Better Late than Never

I started my healthier eating plan a week ago, not becuase of the new year (and I only just discovered the Good Health-a-thon 09!), but because I was tired of being so out of shape, for someone who has been in decent shape most of her life.  1 week in, and my doctor's office's scale read a 4 pound loss - whoo-hoo!  I'll be sure to post more milestones on my blog as I come to them.  Thanks!!!
