good samaritans

I watched  the news yesterday(something I don't normally do) and I saw a story about a woman trapped in a building that was on fire. She had some trouble getting out because a window wouldn't open. Then people trying to help rescue her threw a rock that broke the window. She was able to get out (she'd suffered a few cuts)with help and was taken to safety. It got me thinking how glad I am that there are people out there who put their lives in danger to save someone on a regular basis. Sometimes I think they don't get the credit they deserve. I'm not talking about men and women in uniform alone. I'm talking about a regular person like you and me. The next time a person does something heroic, take a minute to say thanks. You could be brave and save someone too-but I'm not going to sit here and encourage that type of behavior. Unfortunately, these people are not around all the time when they're needed. But then I think about all the people training to become a firefighter, a police officer,  and an E.M.T, I smile and feel optimistic. There's hope for all of us when we need it!
