This Monday, BlogHer kicks off our coverage of the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis-St. Paul. As in Denver last week, we're sending a this small, partisan team to the GOP convention. We're already armed with these questions from last week, but what would you add?

Here's the team:

(1) BlogHer at the RNC:

(2) BlogHer covering the RNC from home:

  • UPDATED: Denise liveblogged Monday, Laura Bush & Cindy McCain (President and Mrs. Bush and Vice President Cheney are no longer planning to attend due to Hurricane Gustav)
  • Updated: Chilihead will liveblog Tuesday speeches by Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee, Tom Ridge, Fred Thompson
  • The American Princess will liveblog Wednesday speeches by Meg Whitman, Carly Fiorina, Alaska governor and VP Nominee Sarah Palin
  • Rocks In My Dryer will liveblog Thursday speech by senator and presumptive GOP presidential Nominee John McCain
  • (3) YOU. Already, so many incredible bloggers have added their voices to BlogHer's coverage. Here's how to find us:

  • BlogHer.com homepage and Election 2008 page- where you can read everyone's politics posts.
  • Twitter.com - If you already Twitter, catch us @BlogHer, @emzanotti (that's The American Princess) and @rocksinmydryer (that's Shannon)
  • BlogHer's Guide to Political Bloggers - Sort our widget by party and to bloggers at the RNC: http://blogher.com/politics. Please add yours!
  • Join us! While our bloggers are partisan, BlogHer is not -- we're here to create opportunities for all women who blog to be heard. As with the DNC, I'll provide regular wrap-ups of what I'm reading from women blogging politics on BlogHer.com and around the Web.

As a post-script, I'd like to congratulate everyone on the site for the great coverage and discussion of the Democratic National Convention on BlogHer.com. Special shout out to the editors who nudged us along, from Denver and from home: Erin Kotecki Vest, Maria Niles, Videographer Katy Chen, Photographer ClizBiz, Sarah Granger for Momocrats, Pundit Mom, Kim Pearson, Morra Aarons Mele. Great work!

    Hi Washwords,

I'm glad you think we're on track with these questions and I will definitely forward #2 to the team.

As for your third comment, I'm glad you used the phrase "rumor" because that's exactly NOT the business BlogHer is going into with our coverage of Election 2008. For those of you just tuning in, the McCain-Palin campaign confirmed today ( http://www.johnmccain.com/Informing/News/PressRele... ) that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's daughter, Bristol, is pregnant. A McCain aide gave a nod to other rumors in this CNN report ( http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/09/01/pa... ).

I think it's important to post a quick reminder about BlogHer's editorial and community guidelines. What's important for BlogHer.com's quality as a community journalism hub and a terrific place for civil disagreement about politics and public policy in this election is that we make sure that we stick to the facts as reported.

All members of BlogHer.com are held to BlogHer's community guidelines ( http://www.blogher.com/what-are-your-community-gui... ). Here's the key item to keep in mind with a story like this one, which involves a minor who has been placed in the public spotlight by a prominent family member:

"We define unacceptable content as anything included or linked that is ... Libelous, defamatory, knowingly false or misrepresents another person"

So while you'll see members and our contributing editors ask questions, but you won't see us wildly conjecture on the site. Doing so devalues BlogHer as a non-partisan news source and discussion forum.

    Hope this helps.

Their presidential candidate barely understands the internet.

The vice presidential candidate strongly supports creationism.

How are we going to compete in a global economy with the rising influence of China (to whom we owe a lot of money) and India (where US jobs are landing), and the EU (whose members are far ahead of us in scientific research) if our leaders are ignorant or backward?

I know many Canadians watching this election you are right!

If you are off to the convention or not I would like to pose the question to you or those reading the Blog "Why did John McCain pick Palin from Alaska as is running mate?"

From what the news report have been saying They meet 6 months prior to her selection and only once after he decided to annouce her. Most people spend years meeting and greeting their potential partner for marriage. So, okay you might say well it doesn't take that long to select a candidate for V.P of one of the most powerful countries in the world. "What about when most companies take say two weeks of intense questioning and drilling to find the best employee for their company? Isn't it strange that he didn't take the time to sit with her and go over some issues, test her etc.

Maybe someone could answer this and let me know how they feel about this. Even though I live in Canada I do have relatives who are citizens living in the U.S.A for many years now and feel strongly about who becomes President.

    1) why did they need to cancel the convention? if it was really about just nominating and supporting america, mccain's not needed in nola. let him go do that instead of the giaaaaannnt prfest that was that "press conference" grrr.

     2) What are Republicans doing to ensure the cronyism/ corruption that went on the last 8 years won't continue?

     3) and, subtly, subtly, can can people start  researching the Bristol Palin-is-really-the-mother rumors? the more I hear... the more pieces click in.

Okay so that's not realistic but can you tell her to PLEASE PLEASE stop cannonizing herself for not killing her down's syndrome child (or Bristol's down syndrome baby) ? it's sooooo f'in offensive for soooo many reasons. i can't even contain myself. sorry. I've never been this politically angry.

thus i'd be a terrible reporter for this event. glad you are there for us.

...why Republicans use religion as a basis for legislation.

Abortion, gay marriage/civil unions, stem cell research, teaching of creationism and intelligent design in public schools - the list goes on and on.

I recently changed my party registration from Republican to Independent because I'm dismayed to see Republicans continually back up their positions on social issues based on their religious beliefs.

I'm a fiscal conservative and a former Air Force officer, but the GOP's focus on religion is driving me straight into the arms of the Democrats.  What are the Republicans going to do to win back Libertarian thinkers like me?
