Goodbye Whitney Houston: "I Will Always Love You"

In 1992 Whitney Houston came out with the song I Will Always Love you, for her film debut “The Bodyguard.” And though I had already loved her as a singer, and was a big fan, her song, "The Greatest Love Of All," made a huge impact on me. That song showed the real power and capabilities of the voice she had. Such a range! I remember hearing that song for the first time on the radio, and when she hit that note that seemed to go on and last forever, I had to take a deep breath for her. It literally took my breath away!

I am sure I am not the only person that sat in front of her mirror, in the privacy of her room, cranked up her music, and sang along from the top of her lungs, imagining it was me performing on stage.

I am seven years older than Whitney Houston, and I feel her death is such a sad tragedy. I am 55 years of age, and I still feel very much full of life. So I cannot imagine that she is no longer; she was still so young, she should have had many more years of gracing us with her talent and beauty. My heart is very saddened at the loss of this super talented woman.

Whitney Houston, rest in peace, and know that you will surely be missed.
