According to recent statistics from the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association, women influence 80 percent of all automotive related purchase decisions; Statistics from The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence say women make up more than 65 percent of customers who take their vehicle to a repair shop. Yet many women find that same automotive-related retail experience to be a high-anxiety, confusing, and unclear process.
To combat this feeling of helplessness, national automotive expert Barbara Terry will provide tips and advice on basic car care for women in a two-hour seminar to be held in the Los Angeles area at Y Tire Sales in Azusa, California, on Thursday, September 11 and at Superior Auto Center in Pinellas Park, Florida, on Wednesday, September 17.
Presented by The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and in partnership with the GFWC Federated East Valley Woman's Club (in Los Angeles) and the St. Petersburg Woman's Club and Families on-the-go Magazine (in Florida), this "Just for Women" Car Care Clinic aims to provide women with a wide range of valuable car care information and hands-on maintenance experiences.
Attendees at this informative and empowering clinic will gain a better understanding of their vehicles and learn many useful car care and maintenance tips, including:
* . How to check tire pressure and tread depth
* . How to check and maintain proper fluid levels
* . How to clean a vehicle's battery posts
* . How to jump start a vehicle's battery
* . What emergency items should always be kept in the vehicle in case of a breakdown
Barbara Terry is a well-known automotive expert, television host, and syndicated columnist. She presents the information in a comfortable manner, using her knowledge from years of experience in virtually all aspects of the auto industry to educate, inform, and entertain the national consumer. Terry is quite familiar with the subject matter, as can be witnessed in this clip from last year's "Just for Women" car care series. She's cute, and she makes the subject matter fun to learn.
The programs will be presented in the Los Angeles Area on Thursday evening, September 11, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m., in partnership with the GFWC Federated East Valley Woman's Club, and in Pinellas Park, Florida on Wednesday, September 17 from 4 to 6:00pm In partnership with the St. Petersburg Woman's Club and Families on-the-go Magazine. Besides being presented by Barbara Terry, local automotive experts from Goodyear will be present to help educate and inform dozens of local women who wish to attend the events.
