The Great Gray Debate
By BoomerGirl on September 26, 2007
I was quoted in Time magazine a few weeks ago. My quote was, "If a woman is really old and the dye job extreme, I think 'who does she think she's kidding?' I'm a bitch, I know."
The subject was hair and authenticity. The story was written by Anne Kreamer, author of the new book, "Going Gray: What I Learned about Beauty, Sex, Work, Motherhood, Authenticity, and Everything Else That Really Matters."
Anne is a friend of mine from childhood and, coincidentally, we decided to stop coloring our hair at the same time - about two years ago. I'm comfortable with my decision but have been AMAZED at the reaction to the Time magazine piece and book from my friends who are staunch supporters of hair color.
I'll have an interview with Anne posted on my site, www.BoomerGirl.com this week, but in the meantime, I pose the question: What does hair color have to do with YOUR authenticity?
