Green And Pink And Political All Over

Yesterday was - how do I say this without risking profound understatement? - a big day in American politics, and we Canadians watched with keen interest. But even as we watched, yesterday and over recent weeks, we were - some of us - still keeping an eye on the Canadian political and social justice landscape. Over at BlogHers Act Canada, we tore ourselves away from US election news time and time again so that we could keep up with the latest issues in environment and family health in Canada and beyond.
What we we've been looking at this month:
How green is Canada's new Minister for the Environment? Can we count on the new guy to do right by the environment? Amy isn't so sure...
And further on the subject of 'green politics'... did the Green Party really have any impact on the Canadian political landscape in the Canadian election? Or was it just a novelty act? Amy talked to some Green supporters in her area to find out. (For an Obama-related take on this question, see this Canadian blogger's thoughts on what she sees as Canada's missed opportunity, in ignoring the Greens, to support its own Obama... thought-provoking, to say the very least.)
And because we consider colours other than green (at least when we're considering issues pertaining to family health)... Katie looked into some new 'pink' projects in support of breast cancer research in Canada. Jessica discovered that pink ribbons don't just signify the fight against breast cancer, but also the fight against bullying, and since she thinks (rightly) that bullying can be as much a family health issue as cancer, she investigated.
Any subjects/issues you think BHAC should be covering in the coming month? Leave a comment here or visit the site and comment and let us know.
Catherine, who blogs as Her Bad Mother, wonder what color ribbons one would wear to show support for men seeking vasectomies. No, really.
