Take a hike!

I live in the South and am usually pretty happy with the mild winters here. I am a native New Yorker and lived in the northeast for most of my life so the move to the south was a wonderful reprise from the brutal and harsh cold of winter. Unfortunately, the South seems to be getting colder and colder every winter. This year is no exception. I am currently cuddled up in the bed after a return from the sunny and warm West coast. 

This weekend I lounged poolside in a bathing suit while sipping a mojito and enjoyed the glorious weather. In addition to relaxing, I also took a hike in Runyon Canon Park. My friends and I hiked 4.5 miles and burned approximately 700 calories during the steep hike. I have found a new outdoor activity that I can do with friends, chat and really enjoy without feeling thinking "aww, do I have to workout?"

Once the weather breaks I am going to start hiking some local trails. Exercise can be fun and adding a hike can be a great way to enjoy a workout. Have you ever hiked? Do you recommend it?
