I recently had a fascinating conversation with two women on opposite sides of this divide. One said online attention spans are short, and posts should be quick reads. The other said "nobody ever won a Nobel Prize for news briefs."
I admit on Surrender, Dorothy, I pay absolutely no attention to length. Because I try to get something up four or five days a week, the posts are often short. I rarely cut the really long ones. However, when I write my mommy & family pieces on BlogHer, I nearly always end up about the same length, which is around 900 words. I don't have a formula for that -- it just seems to be where I end up.
Do you think blog posts should be short or long? Does it matter?
