Let's Talk Cameras

I tweeted earlier today (with the #momspotting hashtag!) to ask parents who happen to be photographers what cameras they are using. I am a part-time photographer for our local newspaper. I adore cameras of all types. They're my thing. As I'm looking to upgrade my DSLR, I was wondering what other photographer parents were using. I got some great replies.

And then I figured, "Why not make it a forum discussion as well?"

And so, the question: What camera(s) do you use? Could you tell us a little bit about them?

My answers: My main camera is a Canon Rebel XT (DSLR). I'm looking to upgrade to either a Canon T1i (their newest DSLR) or a comparable Nikon (likely a D90). (The Nikon option only recently came into play. The newspaper uses Nikon and it would help with flow from work to home if I was using the same brand. But, oh, I love my Canon. So, I'm stuck.)

For my point-and-shoot, which I do use even as a photographer, I use the Samsung Tapandtake (which I won through their big Twitter giveaway). It is FABULOUS. The screen is huge. It has a ton of settings. And the screen on the front is great for self-portraits OR for getting the kids' attention when I'm trying to get them to look AT the camera. I mostly only use this camera when we're on walks or somewhere I don't want to lug my bigger DSLR but I love it. LOVE IT!

Enough about me and my cameras (unless you have specific questions about my cameras or want to offer me some advice on my purchases). Please share how you plan on capturing your holiday memories this year. If you're planning on upgrading before the holidays arrive, this is the perfect place to ask.

Also, if you want to share examples of your current camera work, please do! (I will in the comments. Eventually.)
