Tweeting from the ground

Today our very own Professor Kim re-tweeted and tweeted information and our very own Britt Bravo posted "How to Help Haitian Earthquake Survivors" on how to best serve Haiti after the tragic earthquake of 2010.

This is the first tragedy of this magnitude where all of the digital tools we used to imagine are available and used daily.

Many survivors and rescuers are tweeting about the devastation and the needs.

Do you think this will save more lives? Will it encourage more "rescue" participation?  Will it make telethons and phone drives obsolete?

I immediately posted sites on my blog such as Yele, The American Red Cross and The Clinton Foundation to give my readership direction. Was anyone else compelled to write, tweet, Facebook or use other social networking sites to try and help?
