Axel and the doggie nail file

I have no justification for this post, other than wanting to show my very manly Rottweiler boy giving himself a pedicure. That is all.

I'm afraid I won't be able to give very much advice on how to teach a dog to use the doggie nail file. For that, you will have to read the original article on Shirley Chong's great dog training website.

Axel uses his front paws a lot in play. We joke that it's because he was raised by a cat. Whatever the real reason is, it was very easy to teach him to paw at, then scratch, the nail file board. It required almost no effort on my part to "train" the behavior, so I can't truly say I taught him anything!

Freya doesn't play like that, and so far she has shown no interest in the nail file. The process of shaping the behavior with her would probably produce a more useful training video, and maybe I will do that sometime soon. But for now, you get Axel!
