I am going to finish a sock this month

Brave words from someone who hasn't picked up the knitting needles in close to a month. But not quite as brave as they initially appear as the sock in question has already been started.

Said sock is approximately 5.5 to 6 inches long, from the cuff down. At 7 inches I'll start the heel. I'm making the sock to fit a size 7.5 or 8 foot. (I'd have to look at the other sock to check and it is at home and I am currently not.)

I know this, before Tuesday February 9 I have to have the heel turned and have picked up the stitches. Yes, I must.

You see, I have a knitting date. My knitting date involves a pub. And pints. As anyone who has made socks can tell you, picking up heel stitches isn't always a great idea after a pint or two when you still consider yourself a newbie (ditto anything involving lace).

Even after I pick up the stitches I have a good 7.5 or 8 inches to knit. No pattern, just straight knitting.

It's completely doable...it just requires me doing it.

Do you ever set yourself deadlines for your projects? Does it work?
