Fruit Water

Does anyone make their own fruit water--infusing fruit flavour into their water?  Do you leave the fruit or mint leaves in indefinitely, or do you take them out at some point?  How long does it usually take for the fruit flavour to infuse the water?  I was thinking of starting with apple slices and putting some in a pitcher tonight to see what happens.
