I'm Jes from Chirky.com, and I'm helping organize DFW BlogHer community meetups. We'll kick-start this group with a pre-conference meetup -- fabulous for meeting others who are attending (it makes the conference less overwhelming when you already know folks) and great for those who can't attend to indulge in a taste of the BlogHer experience. We'll also hold periodic meetups throughout the year.

DFW BlogHer community meetups are a great place for conference newbies, conference veterans, bloggers who can't attend, and anyone who just wants to get plugged in with or meet other local bloggers. In this group you'll find tips and suggestions for attending BlogHer events, ways to get involved with the blogging community, links to bloggers in your own backyard and more.

    Today I saw the preview for Disney's new animation The Princess and the Frog, a movie that is all the buzz for various reasons, some applauding the film while others are criticizing it. The buzz that perplexes me most are the complaints about Princesses in general, arguing that Princesses, particularly Disney's, promote a negative stereotype for young girls to look up to. It is this view of Princesses that I aim to address. While I understand such views, I feel the writers are overlooking something of utmost importance--Disney films
