Get Gwyneth Paltrow's Oscar Look for Less!

There are always Oscar dresses that qualify as incredible, amazing, and ... totally out of the realm of possibility for the majority of us. And that's fine -- some of those are the most fun to critique during red carpet coverage! But you know what's also fun? Finding a look that you can recreate for a mere fraction of the cost. That being said, let's see what we can do with Gwyneth Paltrow's Oscars 2012 look.
There are several important components to this look. First, of course, there's her simple white Tom Ford dress.
While Gwynnie's wasn't actually a one shoulder gown like this gorgeous Tadashi Shoji dress ($398 at Nordstrom), it had a similarly asymmetrical look, and in fact, the ruching at the waist on this version is a truly flattering addition. And, you know, if this exact dress isn't quite right for you, keep in mind that the most striking aspect of this dress is that it's simple, straight, and white (although you could totally wear a soft ivory and have the same effect). So, shop around and find one that's perfect for you!
Gwyneth didn't leave all the drama to the gown, but did keep her accessories very simple. (see a closeup here) A stunning pave cuff by Anna Hu with 2,368 diamonds weighing in at a total of 163 carats priced at $1 million and a gorgeous pave flower ring by Hu as well.
A much more affordable option is this gorgeousPavé Crystal Cuff Bracelet V by Eva at HSN for $99.95 or this stunning Grecian Crystal Cuff at Aye Do for about $110. Opt for this Noir Jewelry flower ring $79 or Guess crystal flower ring at $28 to replicate the look perfectly.
Don't worry, I haven't forgotten about her most practical accessory -- the cape!
As far as finding one of your own, well, let's just say there's not a lot on the market just yet (although, give it a little time and I'm sure they'll be everywhere). However, the beauty of Gwyneth's cape is, once again, the simplicity. It looks as much like a man's white tuxedo jacket draped over her shoulders as anything, and is free of the hood, fur, buttons and other things we tend to find with capes. So, if you find yourself in need of the cape as well as the dress, think outside the box! Toss a wrap or a white jacket over your shoulders and get the benefit of the warmth without spending a bundle on a custom-made cover up.
Aside from the fab dress and accessories, you'll want to get your hair just as smooth and straight as possible before pulling it into a low, side-part ponytail, or sleek bun and keep the makeup fairly natural looking, with just some blush on the cheeks and a bit of brown and gold on the eye -- get the full beauty scoop over at Beauty High.
