Halfway Through 2012

I can't believe we are a little more than halfway through 2012 - or as I have dubbed it, the Year of Me - since I set lots of goals for myself this year and want to try for everything and anything! Where has the time gone? As the year is at its halfway point, I wanted to revisit some of the goals I created at the start of the year, to see how I've progressed, and to also list some of the things I'm looking forward to during the second part of the year.

This year I wanted to:

Buy my watch
Success! I had been saving for a while to get this particular watch and was able to purchase it in April. And I’m very happy I had the discipline to actually save for it rather just splurge one day.

Join the Jr. League
Another accomplishment!  I first went to a prospective new members meeting in January and we have now officially completed our new members project and will be full-fledged members come the Fall. I’m excited to join a committee and do some more good work in our community.

Get healthier
I think this is always a work in progress. At the beginning of the year I tried some Bar Method classes. While I did enjoy them (as much as I could through all the leg shaking!), it just wasn’t for me at this particular time. I think yoga is more my speed and I will be getting more involved with that again very soon.
I’m also trying to eat a more balanced diet and The Husband and I make it a point to cook at least a few nights a week (and there’s always leftovers!)

Keep blogging and also get some freelance writing jobs
I’ve done well on the blogging part and have also gotten my first paying freelance project! I finally set aside time to seek out and research various jobs, communities, networks, etc.  I have faith that things will continue to get bigger and better from here.

And now for some fun things I’m looking forward to in the second half of 2012:

Mini-vacations
We’re not doing a big European trip this year but we’re going to Chicago in August. We’re also planning on visiting Pittsburgh for the Steelers first home game (as it is against the Jets). I’ve never been there and am looking forward to getting a nice sandwich at Pramanti’s!

Relaxing by the pool
Our co-op complex has a really nice pool that I plan on lounging by at least once a week or more if I can. I’ll bring my chair, a good book and just relax.

The Fall
My favorite season and I would love to take a trip to the Cloisters as well as revisit Blue Hill at Stone Barns, The Culinary Institute of America and various other fun fall outdoor activities.

Christmas
I always look forward to the holiday season, but this year feels like it will be extra special.

What are some things you’re looking forward to the rest of this year? How are your 2012 goals faring?
