This 8 minute YouTube teaser is from a yet-to-be-released documentary: Handmade Nation.  You would have to live under a rock to not realize the huge rebirth in Art, Craft, and Design that has been occurring throughout the world in the last several years.  Recording this movement in both a book and documentary film is Faythe Levine and Micaela O'Herlihy,  the creators of Handmade Nation: a documentary about The Rise of DIY Art, Craft and Design.  The book will be available late in 2008, with the movie premiering early in 2009.

You can listen to Faythe being interviewed by Sister Diane at Craftypod to hear about the birth of this project.

For more information to get you psyched and drooling for this project, you can check out the documenting  Flickr Photos from the shoots.

Faythe blogs the movie, post-production, and other crafters at the Handmade Nation Blog

Handmade Nation's MySpace page is searching out crafty tattoos.  Do you have one?  Know someone who has one?

You can support the Handmade Nation project by visiting the project's Etsy shop. Crafters choose to donate items to help defray the travel and production costs of creating an independant project.

Another group taking on a similar task is TeamJaded. Abby Berendt and Jeremey Lavoi are travelling around the US, and vlogging their experiences with indie artists and crafters.

Debra Roby blogs her creative life at A Stitch in Time and her mundane life at Deb's Daily Distractions .
