I am constantly in wonder how he
went from a time where milk, squeaky red bird, and funny voices made him laugh and content...
To a time where
there was nothing better than being on the move!
To a time where
he was ONE! and cutting teeth, learning to walk, playing crawl tag and hiding in box forts made by Dad were the events of our days.
And how suddenly he was
TWO and doing everything all my "myself!", Yo Baby Yogurts and Thomas ruled.
And how then I blinked and
Thomas was replaced by Cars, yogurt with peanut butter without jelly, "All by myself" with "my arms are out of oil" and oh yeah- he was THREE!
And how then just yesterday...
This happened...and I'm not quite sure how.
And I'm not quite sure how I feel about it, but he, well, he feels four. He asked me today if he looked four and yes, oh, yes he does. In fact he looks even bigger than that, and time just needs to slow down because I can't blog enough or take enough pictures to capture all the memories and moments I have to, want to, make stand still. The first 26 years of my life I couldn't wait to be bigger, be older, make my life fast forward on to the next phase which I knew would be even better. Since March 10, 2006 I have wanted to hit pause so many times, because despite the days where going to work is just so nice, or bedtime and date nights are way past due, there just isn't anything better for me than being a mother.
Clark is already talking about being five, and I want to cover his mouth and make him eat his words, but I know that feeling. I know no matter how wonderful his father and I try to make his childhood, help him drudge through adolescence, and hopefully become a happy adult there is just nothing better than
Nothing better!
So, Clark, sorry. Although I know for you the best is yet to come, this is my best and it can't go by any faster. Besides, being four is going to be filled with pretty cool things- like watching a sister grow and start to become a friend, spending the summer in a new place with family right at our doorsteps, the last year of preschool, and I'm sure many many days filled with playing cars and jets. We have so much to do!
We love you! Happy Fourth Birthday- It's been our best four years yet!
