Happy Earth Day 2014
By Maybe Diaries on April 27, 2014
When we moved to NZ, life gave us an amazing opportunity to look around and make some conscious decisions about what we wanted as a family.
Inspired by the amazing space at the Wild Child Day, we got off our (very comfortable) sofa and went to see some land this weekend.
It was a fairly long journey into the wilds, but a worthwhile one. The area is stunning, the land, well, it makes my daughter feel like this:
And coming off the back of a pledge to connect with the earth it couldn't have given me a stronger signal that this is where we need to be.
The land is almost entirely untamed at the moment which gives us an incredible opportunity to look at sustainable building, something that is also the focus of Earth Day this year.
Sustainable development isn't just done with mud and Hobbit spit, so if you have a few minutes over lunch, have a look to see what little changes can make a big difference, even in a city.
How about painting your roof white?
It may seem like a tiny gesture, a piece of nothing, but it's not. As Lao Tzu once said:
"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step"
