I may not be Irish, but I do have green eyes! One of my boys has green eyes, and so does my husband. I used to think green eyes were unusual but, now that I'm surrounded by them I'm not so sure. How do I play up my green eyes? Well, you might be surprised...

A long time ago (in a galaxy far far away) I had a make-up artist do my make-up for a special occasion. I was especially pleased to have her do my face as it was a very warm day and I knew she'd be able to make my look stay put  - and not drip off in the heat. But her tricks with powder and letting things set didn't impress me as much as the way she did my eye make-up. For a natural look, for day-time, she chose lavender eye shadow. It was very subtle, but just enough color to bring out the greenest green of my eyes. She lined my lids with deep brown and, I have to say, I looked swell.

Now, don't go racing out for purple! This is the color she used:

and I invite you to try it to highlight your green/hazel eyes this spring. Add a softly pinkish lip color and, I promise, you'll radiate Spring.

Feeling less adventurous? (Let me reassure you, this lavender eye color is not very bold.) My next reccomendation would be this lovely palette:

Skip the white powder, sweep some of the tan under your brow-line, smudge the brown on your lids, line your top lids with the black (soften it with the brush, please) and your lower lids with the green (also softened). It's a pretty compact to boot - easy to find in a dark handbag.

If you are under 40 (and I am NOT) and going out on the town to celebrate St. Pat -

try lining your lids with this amazing old-school black-kohl pencil. Your green eyes will absolutely pop with color.

Or, if you aren't the dramatic type - and your wallet is feeling pinched...

check out the Sephora house-brand line of make-up. This fabulous chunky eye pencil comes in a dozen bright colors and can be yours for FIVE BUCKS. Go with the green if you want a bright color or take my advice and try the violet...you might be pleasantly surprised.

I've never received makeup advice from a bird, so this should be interesting!  lol

I didn't know birds wore eye shadow.  It figures they would wear lavender, though.  It's a nice spring-like color.  You should have included some pictures from your makeover.  I'd love to see a bird wearing eyeshadow!  Gotta go...my friend cardinal is here.  lol

I used to wear lavender eye shadow back in the 80s because it made my eyes look so green.
