Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! What Are You Thankful For?

We'd like to wish everyone a very happy Thanksgiving this week. It's been a tough year for many folks in this country, but I still see people expressing gratitude for what they have every single day. That must be a part of our national DNA if you think about the first Thanksgiving. The original settlers were cold, and almost always hungry. They died of dreadful diseases that don't even exist anymore (smallpox). Every day was a struggle to stay alive. And yet, with the help of their Native American hosts, they were able to celebrate and give thanks almost 400 years ago.

I am thankful that I had a good job that I enjoyed for 20 years and it gave me the resources to retire and be at home. During those 20 years, life moved on and life was lived....but now I , finally, get to cook, bake, quilt, visit, clean, organize, decorate, enjoy my family, have morning coffee with my husband, plant a garden, make potpourri and simply enjoy my home with no time schedule. God is good, all the time.

One more person for me to be thankful for is my grand baby Avery Mae born 11/11/11 who I met last weekend, oh the joy of holding that little bundle! She is healthy, new mommy and daddy are doing great! They live 4 hours away and we will visit again at Christmas!

I am so thankful that my mom and stepdad and my son are coming to spend a few days with us this week. I'm thankful that my health issues seem to have dissipated. I'm thankful that my hubby is getting in shape, I want to do so much with him before we pass. I'm thankful for 2 healthy grandsons and a daughter sweeter than honey. And I'm so thankful for my iPhone 4S. ;)

Though we've lost our home and roamed homeless for a few years, I am thankful now that my husband is finally working, that we finally have a roof over our heads, a place to call "home," and very thankful that we can have three-square meals every day,
