Gina Carroll is an attorney and freelance writer. Her blog,Tortured By Teenagers: Parenting Adolescents with Gina Carroll is currently featured on Chron.com. She is the Parenting Teens Examiner and feature blogger for Communities In Schools-Houston. In addition, she has been posting on her site,Think Act: Proactive Black Parenting, since 2004.

Her articles on family life and parenting have appeared nationally and internationally, in such periodicals as the Houston Chronicle, Texas Family, Palo Alto Weekly’s The Almanac and the American Suzuki Journal. Ms. Carroll is also a speaker and facilitator on topics related to parenting, education and the high school-to-college transition.

She currently lives with her husband and five children in Houston, Texas. The frenetic movement of her large family across the country (relocating, commuting, and traveling for sports and music) resembles Ringling Brothers meets Partridge Family road tour. They have lived on Long Island, New York; San Francisco, Los Angeles and Woodside, California; and Houston, Texas (twice). Her two oldest children are in college. Her middle child is spending her “gap year” teaching surfing and English in Peru. Her youngest daughter is a whirlwind of an 11th grader and her youngest son, a very social 10-year old, has recently been liberated from his homeschool-prison by his jailer-mother! He now attends public school.
