Welcome!
On behalf of the entire community and my co-founders Elisa Camahort,
Jory Des Jardins and myself, I welcome you to the BlogHer network.
This Web site is one more way that BlogHer is working to create an opportunity for greater exposure, education and community for women online. If you're interested in hearing more, I invite you to read more:
More about me:
I'm a journalist and media strategist. I've written for The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, The Oakland Tribune, Publisher's Weekly and Frommer's, among other publications.
On the producer/strategy side, I spend a lot of time advocating for users. I've launched blog networks and interactive programming for many national brands, including Hearst and Rodale magazines, E! Television/Online, HBO's Sex and the City, Knight Ridder Digital, American Lawyer Media and Glam Media. While executive producer and Editor in Chief/VP, Programming for Women.com, (aquired by iVillage in 2001), I launched an 18-channel network and helped grow it to a Top 30 site, overseeing all original content programming and newsletters, including a team of 25 and an annual budget of $3 MM. My team's best-known work included Bachelors of Silicon Valley, The Women.com | Bloomberg Index of the 30 top publicly traded companies helmed by women, R U A 10? (body image) and Majority 2000, an election initiative with Good Housekeeping and Gallup.
I regularly speak about why women are the power users of Web 2.0 (and beyond) and the extraordinary citizen journalism many women and men commit online every day. For more on me and my work, I invite you to visit Surfette, my personal blog. I look forward to meeting you around this site.
Best,
Lisa
