So today my activities lead me to ask this question... Why are headstones and cemetery markers so expensive? Seriously who are they for.... the deceased, the family behind?
I mean is the resting place any less appealing if there is just nicely cut grass and flowers? Why do they have to be so expensive. Family members are grieving at the loss of the loved ones and ~ 6 out of 10 times they usually have not planned for this new or extra expense, so why so expensive?! And why isn't this cost included in the initial cost of burial and funeral fees. Geez! IMJA..... I'm just asking.
I know this is something while among the living we don't like to think about but, perhaps to save our loved ones, spouses, children, grandchildren and all a little more grief from the loss maybe we should preplan or at least have a very robust life insurance policy.
At any rate, I am thankful for God's blessing to be able to do this financially and honor the memory of those who have gone before us. But.... they don't make it easy.
