Top Chef Hung's Herbed-Up Chicken with Spiced Aoili

Two weeks ago I attended a Passover demo by last season’s Top Chef Winner Chef Hung at Birthright’s JEC (Jewish Enrichment Center). The demo showcased Chef Hung’s ability to spice up a traditional Passover Seder with dishes like  Herbed-Up Chicken with Spiced Aoli. I named this dish herbed-up chicken because as Emeril would say, Chef Hung ”takes it up a notch” with the combination of lemongrass, rosemary, thyme, and curry. Ours always used to squeeze into the gap between our Rayburn and the chimney wall. Only in the winter when it was on. We could never work out how she didn't get roasted. But she seemed to love it. ...more

Through the Looking Glass

It's interesting how being fat has shaped my life. I practiced yoga today at the gym and the walls in the room that we practice in are covered in mirrors. As we were transitioning into warrior one I couldn't look at myself in the mirror. I'm hardly narcissistic by any means but sometimes you have to check yourself out in the mirror to make sure you're doing the poses correctly. I just can't stand to look at myself because I don't like what I see . I always avert my eyes, or pick a spot above the mirror to look at. ...more
