Majora Carter, Lisa Donovan, Brit Morin, and Randi Zuckerberg have started companies and non-profits. They have built business models where others had (and still have) trouble seeing the path. They have their hands in creating content online, on TV, and in the palm of your hand. Their videos have been viewed by millions. They have democratized political discourse and civic decision-making. They have collaborated with major media, but have continued forging their independent way. Individually they are impressive women at the peak of their careers....more
Have you heard about the bats in Austin? They live under the Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge, and just as Ann Richards was a force of nature, so are these bats! It's estimated that there are 750,000 to 1.5 million bats at the height of "bat season." Nope, I didn't know there was a bat season either! But that's when we'll be in Austin for BlogHer Food '13.
Around sunset, these bats take off to go get their food (insects, yum!) and with all of them in flight, it looks like a black cloud emerging from the bridge.

This year marks the ninth annual Blogher conference, and the fourth year since we introduced the "community parties" back in 2010. As BlogHer grew we introduced the community parties, and we continue to support them for two reasons: To make sure there are always fun evening events to which every attendee is invited and to provide a way for attendees to connect with their various tribes in a more informal and fun setting....more
