Linus is insistent someone's birthday is today.
With quizzical eyes, he looked at me and signed “more” as he said, “more birthday?”
With excitement he proclaimed, “Happy birthday, Jesus!”
No, today isn't Christmas, my love.
His attention turned to each person in the room. “Happy birthday, Evan?” “Happy birthday, Jo Jo?”
No, sweetheart, not today.
He couldn't be convinced. Still he pressed on. “Happy birthday?”
How could Linus have known that four years ago today, I birthed one of the most beautiful babies I have ever seen? Bennett never opened his eyes. This child, who never cried or took a breath of air touched my life and changed me in ways I never thought possible.
My Linus is a special boy. Not only is he very connected to me, but his relationship with God is remarkable. How do I know this? I'm not quite sure, but I can feel it. There are more stories to tell, more stories to come.
Did Bennett whisper in his ear? Please let the spirit of my second born son live on in our home.
Somehow my sweet boy knew today was his big brother's birthday. On a day when I was feeling that no one remembered my son, the most unexpected person showed me that Bennett was thought of today.
Happy fourth birthday, Bennett.
