Helping From Home: How to Reach Out When You Can't Get Out

Helping From Home

Getting out into the community is important for homemakers, but there are ways to help from home should you find yourself in a season where you're unable to get out! Here are a few suggestions, specifically for Wichita, KS locals:

Did you know the DAV does monthly pick-ups? Call to find out when your time is, and they will give you a pink bag to fill and place out on your patio for pick-up on your designated date.

Non-profits such as Carpenter PlacePCCKansans for Life, etc. can always use people to volunteer from home with tasks such as addressing envelopes. Call them to find out their latest volunteer opportunities.

Hold special backyard play days for neighborhood kids to come over. Invite parents, too, to have lunch and chat while the kids play games or run through the sprinklers.

Set up a meal-train for someone in need, such as a new mom or a family going through grief. All the set up and organization can be done from home on your computer if you have internet access.

What else have you done from home to reach your community?

Sweetly Yours,
