Creating A Fairy Garden: Play For Grownups!

So you thinking about making a fairy garden? Do it! You're going to have so much fun. I was inspired to build a fairy garden after reading an idea from reading a fellow blogger's post on Fairy doors. That reminded me that I needed a Gnome door for my poor gnomes so they can get out of this horrid cold at night. At least until summer gets here. But hey, they deserve a place to chill at night, right? Thenceforth came the Fairy Garden Idea. ...more

Vegetable Gardening

Vegetable gardening is one of the great joys of living in the country.  This is my favorite time of year, when things are just beginning to bloom and show promise.  Our hopes are always high for the best garden ever.  Today we are digging potatoes if the rest of the garden comes in as good as the potatoes, this might be the year.http://threeheadedchef.blogspot.com/2013/05/tater-diggin-time.htmlLife's too short to eat crappy food.  :-)http://threeheadedchef.blogspot.com/...more

Todays Trial of my Gardening Quest

I spent my afternoon outside on this beautiful Montana day with my youngest son, and my husband. My husband finished my rototilling that I was unable to do because of the wrist. My son planted the seeds and some of the plants I had stated inside weeks ago. Gardening is very rewarding in the end of season but man it is a lot of work. Not much doesn't get used in our house with the produce we plant. What doesn't get canned, frozen, or dehydrated get fed to our chicken for unbelievable nutritious eggs for our family and our community in which my son sells his eggs. ...more

Gardening is a long term REWARD, but I am an INSTANT gratification kind of gal.

Gardening is hard work......we have two raised garden beds not huge. Since my wrist surgery I am really not able to do much rototilling did some but wrist can't quite take it yet, so it is a family thing thank God for my loving husband. My youngest did most of the placing of the seeds and did the covering. It took several hours today to get the garden tilled and planted. It will take several months to reap the rewards of the garden, but what a good feeling it will be to have carrots, onions, tomatoes, corn, and peppers to get us through the winter....more

Gardenias

I love gardenias.  Or as my grandfather called them, “gah-deen-yas”.  Grandpa had a peculiar accent formed on the streets of lower Manhattan in the early 1900’s.  It was a different sort of “city accent” which often provided amusement to me and my sister when he pronounced certain words.  Some of these words are now embedded in our family speech, and we pronounce them the way he did.  Gardenia is one of those words....more

Growing Green Onions & Things

I find gardening quite relaxing and a little fun. Not hours in the direct, blazing sun, or anything like that. I have my little set-up in the shade, my watering can, gloves, etc. I take my time, not spending hours on my knees or stretching and putting myself out of commission. I do want to be able to walk the next day. A little bit today, a little bit tomorrow.I'm growing green onions, I love them. I put them in a lot of foods. I put them in salads, eggs. I eat them cooked and raw. I really love green onions....more

Talking to Plants – You are Not Nuts

Do you enjoy talking to your plants? Well, if you decide to openly state this in front of your friends or family, you might get a lot of jokes. For most people such statement might sound ridiculous, however, when it comes to facts and not just simple chit-chat – things become a little bit more complex and slightly different. But let's see why you are not nuts, when you talk to plants. Anyway, when the plants start talking back to you... well, then you have a problem....more
