Homemade Liquid Laundry Detergent
By Zylo @ Fan of Stuff on April 25, 2014
I have been wanting to try my own laundry detergent now for years (my dreams are small, guys), but most recipes call for borax, washing soda, and fels naptha. I have never in my life found these items easily. They never seem to carry them when I happen to be looking for them. However, I finally rounded them all up and was able to make my own green cleaning products! I'm so proud.
There are recipes out there for both liquid and powdered laundry detergent. I intended to make powdered but... faced challenges... with my food processor. So liquid it is! I actually had a lot of fun doing this and it made a TON of laundry detergent. This would be a great recipe for a family and I'm trying to talk my mom into trying it.
Due to the cost of my ingredients, my recipes boiled down to costing less than 3 cents a load. Not bad for an hour of work and an overnight sit in the bathtub. For the full recipe, geeky cost breakdown, and the story of how I broke my second food processor, click here.
