Honest Toddler

So I joined the Twitter recently (@kristijames4).  I'm not really sure why, after holding out for so long.

It might have been an attempt to stay relevant with the big 3-0 looming.  Maybe I was just wondering what all the fuss was about.  Or maybe I was wondering what Justin Timberlake and Betty White had for breakfast.

Anyway, I signed up, and found my way to following @honesttoddler.  Kid is hilarious!  Some of my favorites include:

-Mommy saw a spider and almost cried. LOL I've eaten like four of those this week.

-"I know what's best for you," said the woman who can't keep basil alive.

-Leftover pinterest casserole for lunch.

-Mariah Carey's kids are probably playing in their indoor bounce house. Sitting here with a ziploc bag of kix.

While she doesn't know much about Mariah Carey, although you can betchyer next baby she will this Christmas (All I want for Christmas is You, am I right?), my own toddler has been pretty honest lately as well.  In an attempt to acknowledge some of her new abilities while also emphasizing the importance of making her own decisions, Liv has started to respond to our requests with a firm "I can, but I not."

"Liv, you need to go put your shoes in your room."

"I can, but I not."

"Liv, you need to eat your broccoli before you're finished with dinner."

"I can, but I not."

"Liv, you need to stop hitting your sister's head with that maraca."

"I can, but I not."

"Liv, you need to let mommy go potty alone."

"I can, but I not."

Ah, the beauty of honesty and independence.
