How About Them Skins and RG3?
As a DC Native, born in Freedman Hospital (Howard University Hospital for DC newbie Washingtonians) and grew up in Mount Pleasant now currently a Petworth resident, I know DC and I know the Skins history. What I don’t know is football.
Yes, it’s true. While, I have not an iota of understanding of what goes on in the game, I keep track of the Skins at least to see if they are remotely almost “making it.” I remember being in high school when our beloved football team won the Super Bowl – you either know the year or you can Google it. I’m not going to say my age. The point being here, I am happy to hear the Skins are doing well.

The Nation’s Capital’s team has a chance, and now the Skins can even toot their own horn about the star athlete RG3. I feel the joy and the pain of my fellow DC residents, neighbors and friends on every victory and loss. I almost have to, my son and husband, neighbors and closest friends are die-hard fans. It’s hard to miss the blaring horn my neighbor sounds at the beginning of every game and on every touchdown.
Got to give it to DC folk ’cause that’s what we call ourselves, Washingtonians are loyal… First there were the Skins and now, there’s RG3. I think they should name a DC drink after the kid. In the meantime, RG3 jerseys have surpassed sales of any NFL players’ jerseys and made record sales on Cyber Monday. Looking forward to joining my brothers on the Hail-to-the-Redskins victory dance.
So, while I don’t know football – don’t hold it against me – I do know DC. I can show you from LeDroit Park to Columbia Heights to across the river. Allow me to give you a tour and I’ll be mindful of game days.
Hail to the Redskins!
