How Disney's movie Frozen Can Help Promote Mental Health Awareness
By ChristinaJavete on June 17, 2014
I know if Elsa sought any type of therapy that this movie wouldn’t be the movie, Frozen. I just wanted to share my thoughts about perhaps using this popular and amazing movie to people as an example of what an ignored mental health condition could lead to:isolation, negativity, depression, loss of hope, no longer enjoying things that once enjoyed, etc. I think it’s important to bring awareness of mental health issues, at any age. The more we know about something, the more educated and smart we are to help on another. Why not tell our children about issues like these, to allow our children to understand the power of what empathy and tolerance can do.
Since I am in an accredited graduate school studying to be a Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) one day, I understand that there needs to be more knowledge and awareness. Let’s not be ashamed of our disorders, let’s allow people in and help them understand it.
