How to Feel a Sense of Accomplishment at the End of the Day

We can all feel like we’re running ourselves ragged and haven’t done ENOUGH. So in this article, let’s talk about how to feel a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day.


I had a really enlightening conversation with a client the other day. She was talking about “not-enough” syndrome.


Here was an extremely accomplished, amazing young woman, who in the last year alone had done SO much – and yet she never felt a sense of accomplishment or relief.


Now, I know that most of you have found Crazy Wild Love with a sense of “not-enoughness”. Whether we’re not good enough, don’t have enough money, not smart enough, not pretty enough or never accomplish enough.


This manifests in ALL sorts of ways in our lives. It could cause us stress and anxiety, keep us from dating, hold us back from living our dream and keep us feeling small.


Well, we are not born to be small. The world doesn’t need smallness, the world needs people who are ready to come alive.


You can’t feel fully alive when you’re stuck in overwhelm, anxiety and depletion.


And even if we’re doing a lot, that doesn’t always translate into happiness and success.


So with this client on the phone I had her take a few minutes to rehash everything she had accomplished in the past year alone. After we took a birds-eye view at all her achievements, we sat in silence for a moment and just smiled for the sheer celebration of it.


Believe you me, I certainly fall prey to this now and again.


In the past two years alone I graduated with a Master’s from Harvard, moved across the country twice, raised two puppies on separate occasions, met someone, got engaged, went back to school, got a new apartment, started a business….not sure when I had time to breathe in all of that.

Point being that sometimes I forget to celebrate all of my success.


What’s worse is that usually those of us who suffer from “not-enoughness” do it on a daily basis causing significant stress and anxiety.


Our excuse is that we simply don’t have enough hours in a day.


Well, guess what? There are 24 hours in a day for everybody and it’s not going to change anytime soon.


You are not the victim of time. You are the creator of time.

You have a choice to simplify and prioritize. You also have a choice to be fully present and engaged in whatever task is at hand.


Don’t have time to meditate? If you really, truly don’t…then make your task your meditation.


I often meditate over doing dishes or folding the laundry. Any task that you show up for, fully present and engaged will give you a sense of accomplishment.


I also told my client to start writing down an MIT (Most Important Task) each morning.


To-Do lists will never end. An MIT on the other hand is your biggest priority for that day. This can be a work task, an errand you have to run or even taking time to relax or spend with your partner.


Whatever it is, if you complete your MIT chances are you’re doing more important work than you would if you simply checked off all the little things on your to-do list.


Once it became a habit, this simple practice has given me a huge sense of relief and accomplishment on a daily basis.


So remember to pause, breathe and celebrate all your minor (and major) successes!


You are enough. You do enough. You have enough.
