How Long Is Too Long
by ColbieLena

I recently had a friend who recently broke up with his girlfriend.
When I asked my other friends who spilled the beans why they broke up
they had no idea, but replied “It must be hard though, because they had
been together for 12 years.”

Twelve years?!? Goodness gracious! Twelve years and no ring, thats
crazyness. I had never heard of that before. I’m guessing alot of women
start to itch for that ring after that 3 year mark? Probably more like
4 years? What do you all think? How long is too long to wait for that
ultimate commitment?

Depends

For me at 37, I've got to know it's on the table by year two, but when you're younger it's a different ballgame.

Well...

It completely depends on the individuals involved.  Personally, I feel there definitely is a point where enough is enough....it's either right or it is not.   Your past experiences with relationships as well as where you are in life will help to dictate what you want and what you will tolerate.  For me, I think about a year and a half to two years is plenty!

It depends on what the individuals are searching for.  If the person is looking for a husband/wife then yes, after a year the subject should be discussed and determined if that is where the relationship is heading.  In my situation, I am not looking for marriage at this time.  It will be at least 7 to 8 years before I would even consider it.

Great question!
