How To Make Powerful Presentation Folders

When you’re preparing for a presentation, you’ve probably got your charts, speech and props ready to go. You’ve also prepared your presentation in paper form for attendees to take home. A presentation folder to hand out your speech and accompanying materials is the perfect way to make a great impression without much effort. Think about it: would you be more impressed by someone handing one a pile of papers clipped together with a paperclip or organized neatly in a presentation folder? It’s easy to create powerful presentation folders that will knock the socks off of investors, meeting attendees and potential clients. Here’s how. 1. Decide on what kind of folder format you need. You’ve got the traditional two pocket and one pocket options, but there are a myriad of other options available that include an extra folding flap for more information or a CD pocket if you have a promotional video to hand out. Check out CompanyFolders.com for more folder formats. 2. Decide on a color. The color of your folder should reinforce your brand. Target stores, for instance, would probably use a red presentation folder. 3. Design your folder. Unlike brochures, it’s okay to put your company’s logo on a presentation brochure. What you’re selling is ultimately the company during a presentation. That’s not to say you couldn’t use a product photo on the front – if your presentation folders are for a sales presentation of a specific product, by all means include the product on the front of the folder. A picture of your product or people enjoying your service is definitely more powerful than your logo alone. 4. Don’t forget to design the inner pockets. Many presentation folders have a slit in the pocket for a business card. Take advantage of this design by slipping your business card into each folder. You can also print your slogan on the folder pocket as well. 5. Use the folder pockets to highlight benefits of your product or company. A bulleted list or numbered list that isn’t too text-heavy works well on a folder pocket. You could also use the folder pocket as a kind of “Contents page” to tell readers what’s in the folder, but benefits would make the folder more powerful than telling people what’s in the folder. 6. The back of your folder should include your contact information and another logo placement. If you didn’t put your logo on the front of the folder, you definitely want to add it to the back panel. If you did put your logo on the front, put it on the back again, in a smaller size, right above your contact info. Be sure to use brand fonts if you have them. If you don’t have a font related to your brand, choose a font that is sophisticated and easy to read, like Garamond. Also be sure to pick a thick card stock so that your folder doesn’t fold in the middle or bow in any way. A flimsy folder will make clients think your company is flimsy as well. Your presentation is a representation of your brand, so take the time to design it carefully. A presentation folder is often the main thing that clients remember your presentation by.
