I have a lot of my readers ask me how to create the Burlap Garland Banner that I did for my daughter's first birthday (you can read the whole post here). I love decorating for every holiday, even if it something small. Here is a small burlap garland I made. It's simple and easy for you to make, even with the kiddos!
This is pretty easy to make. You just have to have some of these items lying around, or go to your local Michaels Craft Store and get them.
Items You Will Need:
- Craft Brush
- Craft Paint
- Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
After gathering everything you need, cut the heart using the Heart Cutout template I created ( download it here).
I used the template to create the first heart, and then I just kept tracing the first burlap cutout to make three more cutouts. I wanted to do the word LOVE, so it was easy to only have to cut out four hearts.
Lay all the cutouts on a piece of newspaper (or whatever you can find to protect the surface from the sticky craft paint). Get your stencils, paint, and brushes ready. Then paint away!
Your little ones can even help make the final touches!
After getting all the letters stenciled and painted on the burlap, wait for about 10 minutes for everything to dry. Then line them up, and get your hot glue gun and a length of twine ready.
Glue the twine to the back of the hearts to create a garland. Wait for it to dry and then hang it up anywhere in your house!
