How Much Do You Spend on Groceries?

One of the biggest budgeting expenditures for many families is the food budget. It's an area where you can often scrimp, save and cut... but you can't eliminate it. I mean, really, you can cut out entire bills when it comes to things like cable or internet (it would kind of suck, but you could). You can't eliminate feeding yourself and the kids.
Official USDA Food Plans: Cost of Food at Home at Four Levels
Out of curiosity, I decided to look and see what the USDA says are "average" costs of feeding families. The most recent numbers are from November 2013. Now, I have to giggle sometimes when I see these numbers listed for "families"... I can't remember the last time our family size was "4"... (well, actually, that's not true. It changed to 5 in September of 1998 when Jon graced us with his presence... and has just gotten bigger since!)
