How Much Money Do Bloggers Earn?

I just found a great post by professional blogger and webmaster Darren Rowse of ProBlogger:

How Much Money Do Bloggers Earn Blogging? Darren Rowse recently surveyed 857 bloggers and published the results on his blog:

49% earned under $100
23% earned over $1000
16% earned over $2500
9% earned over $15000

If you’re a pessimist, almost 50% of those surveyed reported that they earned next to nothing during the month of October 2007. But if you’re anything like me (a dreamer reaching for the stars) you’ll note that 25% of those surveyed earned what I would consider to be a full-time income or more from blogging during the same period.

I would be interested in seeing the results of a much larger survey with additional information included such as: how the money was earned; what the highest earning blogs write about; how long have the blogs been operating, etc. However, I salute Rowse for giving us a glimpse into a topic that is shrouded in mystery. Most bloggers are reluctant to talk about their earnings and the highest money earners are even less likely to reveal the secrets of their success.

Has anyone done an updated survey for this? Also, what was the time frame for the income - a week, a month, a year? Just curious.

This is great info, and I would also love to see the survey duplicated with BlogHer members.

I've been looking EVERYWHERE for info like this. Every other site just speaks in generalities - but, I like numbers! Every occupation as a rough salary... I wish blogs did too.

Is there ANY chance of duplicating this survey with blogher members? I'm sure the numbers would be skewed on the more profitable side - but it'd still be great info for new bloggers to have.
