I'm already presenting the suggested topic at SheBlogs She Con '11 in May and would love to share another presentation just for my fellow BlogHer Conference attendees.
Following 25+ years in corporate and agency PR and as a syndicated journalist, I have been mommy blogging for the past two years. I'm also handling social media consulting for various clients seeking to penetrate the mom and family marketplaces in addition to serving as a resource for fellow mommy bloggers.
I propose a session that I could present on how to use PR to promote your blog. As bloggers we all work with PR people all the time who want to generate content for our blogs. Unfortunately, many of us find that we are so busy blogging and working with the brands that we write about and the business end of things such as SEO and monetizing that we forget that we also need to constantly be doing our own public relations to maintain & expand our visibility in both the mass media and the niche media outlets that would benefit from knowing about what we do. This session would be geared toward newer bloggers, especially those who need advice on how to get publicity for their blog in traditional media & Internet media and how to leverage social media communities to build their audiences both among consumer readers and brands.
