I am redeemed!
I am working on the newsletter for theGloryRefugeChurch. Pastor James and Pastor Rita have been off on vacation so I thought I would write a couple of articles and have them ready for when they get back. I will see them Friday evening when I go over to finish typing the Discipleship class book I have been working on.
Thinking of Friday reminded me of the song we have been singing during praise and worship. It’s a Big Daddy Weave song – I am redeemed! You know the one I am talking about – I will sing the chorus for you:
I am redeemed
You set me free
So I'll shake off theses heavy chains
And wipe away every stain
Now I'm not who I used to be
I am redeemed
I am redeemed
It’s from the album “Love come to Life” By Big Daddy Weave
Besides this being my new favorite song I really had a plan for today – do we know what a gift that really is- to be redeemed?
The dictionary says the definition is:
tr.v. re·deemed, re·deem·ing, re·deems
1. To recover ownership of by paying a specified sum.
2. To pay off (a promissory note, for example).
3. To turn in (coupons, for example) and receive something in exchange.
4. To fulfill (a pledge, for example).
5. To convert into cash: .
6. To set free; rescue or ransom.
7. To save from a state of sinfulness and its consequences.
8. To make up for:
9. To restore the honor, worth, or reputation of:
We are going to soon be celebrating the 4th of July and everything that day means for our Freedom but God had a much bigger plan for us – not to just be free to worship where and when we want which is a fantastic thing to be thankful for. But God’s plan was for us to be truly free – free from our past sins, free from the shame we carry because of what we had done. He truly loved us enough to take the beating for us and to go to the cross and die so we might be free!!
That is the best thing ever! God has been working in my life again- mind the construction cones and the caution tape – so he has been asking me – do I know how good it is to be redeemed? I have learned how good it feels to be able to forgive yourself for things in the past. How you can’t live with the root of bitterness in your life. That can honestly be bad for your health! Now He is showing me how good life is to know you can hold your head high knowing you are redeemed – God chose you- you are sought after, loved beyond measure!
Galatians 2:20 (NLT)
20 My old self has been crucified with Christ.[a] It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
I must say this verse has new meaning for me. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. Since mylast Drvisit and deciding that I really do have diabetes and that I really do have to do something to change all of that. It is truly humbling to know that God has this and I just need to admit to him I am not able to do this alone and walk out with my head held high knowing I am redeemed!!
I am praying for you!
