I Don't Ask For Much! Just A Country Home Somewhere In Georgia...
By foxyc on July 31, 2010
So purely out of frustration, I email my lawyer to ask, "what's the dang holdup?!" Why is it that folks (women) of the world can work their a** cheeks off and don't reap the benefits!? Ok, so I was a bit steamed. You see, after working for 20 something years at one business- the business suddenly closes its door & without a word to their workers, mind you, goes on the bankrupt mill ...
So we do the required paperwork for claims court and we're waiting for our share of distribution owed to the poor working idiots we've become with homes, mortgages, and mouths to feed. I remind the lawyer in sooo many words how I'm not getting any younger here! In fact, I'm tired as heat in Summer and I just want to scurry away somewhere on a farm in Georgia to rest on my years of dedicated service by fishing, gardening, have occasional conjugal visits from the opposite sex and introduce my grandchildren to the awesomeness of Mother Nature!
Oh, but, yes, here goes the "But." The matter is still in appeal & he'll have his legal secretary send me the latest info!! Now, people have been in the news getting paid for all of these years from some ill misrepresented treatment or another. Just the other day, a co-worker at my new job site, got a huge settlement from like a year ago from sustaining a hand injury... I'm dying here. AND I'm rapidly losing faith in the so called Justice System. President Obama, if you're reading this. Why not have your people call my people of one and let's get to the bottom of this thing where its supposed to be "equal pay for equal work",twenty plus years of it, I might add.
I've missed so many property buying opportunities in this down economy that I could have taken advantage of, if I had my settlement. I'm reading the papers from the lawyer's office & see where one of the richest banks in America is appealing the decision to pay the poor folks! Come on, bank, you received millions/maybe billions from the bailout. Why don't you stop the greed and pay us what we've worked for?
Well, this is definitely a rant. I think Prince must have said it best in Purple Rain back in the day. "Life is a b*t*h and then you die" . I just want my place in the Georgia sun before I do. It's actually on my bucket list...
